   We are a group of approximately 30 members dedicated to the prevention and suppression of fire. We are one of three companies which together form the Hopatcong Fire Department, covering the 10.9 sq miles that is Hopatcong Borough. We are involved, in conjunction with the Hopatcong Bureau of Fire Prevention, in educating the Borough children in fire safety and awareness. We are present every year for fire prevention day at your children's schools and other community functions. We are always available for questions or tours on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings. We are easily recognizable by the traditional Chicago Fire Department paint scheme of black over red. We are prepared to handle all types of fires, from car fires to any structure related incidents, such as actual fires, smoke conditions, and alarms (carbon monoxide and smoke). We are specially equipped to handle brush fires, ice rescues, and all aerial operations. We are always responding when you hear the sirens blow four times. We are proud to serve the roughly 16,500 residents of the Borough of Hopatcong in the spirit of volunteerism, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. We are Defiance Engine Company #3.
